Lesson Repertoire

All students in my studio work on tone, technique, piece from the standard flute repertoire, rhythm, music theory, and sight-reading.  We also play some flute duets to help with sight-reading, intonation and leadership qualities that must be present when performing ensemble music.

Requirements for Beginning Students:

  • Learn the fingerings of the complete range of the flute
  • Work to have a good tone
  • Be able to play all 12 major scales
  • Learn basic flute pieces
  • Play “fun music”
  • Basic theory and sight-reading

  • Be fluent in sight-reading

  • Practice technique every day

  • Be able to perform works from the flute repertoire
  • Be proficient in music theory, music history, ear training, and rhythmic figures
  • Be a strong sight-reader
